Route development

Ashton to Oldham

A further section of the former railway between Alt Hill Lane and Alt Hill Road has been surfaced to greenway standard, funded mostly by Tameside Borough Council. This leaves only the central section between Bristol Avenue and Alt Hill Lane to be completed.

Bury

A high quality greenway with a new bridge, funded through the Cycle England/Sustrans School Links project will improve cycle access to Cams Lane Primary School at Radcliffe.

Bolton

Sustrans is negotiating with British Rail Residuary Body for leases on the Burnden and D'Arcy Lever viaducts on the former railway to Bury for a potential greenway.
