Route developments
The section of National Route 45 along the disused railway between Coalport and Bridgnorth golf course is temporarily closed (from 1st November 2011) and will reopen on 1st February 2012. The closure is for the safety of all users whilst winter shooting and logging operations take place. An alternative on-road route has been signed by local Sustrans rangers and is shown on the Sustrans online mapping.
National Route 44 is now open between Shrewsbury and Leominster as the Six Castles Cycleway. The appropriately named route takes in six castles and some wonderful Shropshire scenery, on quiet roads through Bishop's Castle and Ludlow. Signing of the whole route is still in progress which will run from Cinderford to Shrewsbury via Hereford, incorporating the existing Great Western Way railway route in Herefordshire.
This is wonderful news, and with enthusiastic support from the local authorities involved, we hope to get things moving as quickly as possible.
