Open Routes
National Route 6
National Route 6 of the National Cycle Network passes through Nottinghamshire. Running from Derby, through Nottingham and on to Sheffield via Sherwood Forest, Worksop and Rotherham. It is a part of the Derby to York Cycle Route and connects London with the Lake District.
National Route 64
National Route 64 is open from Bottesford to Lincoln via Cotham, Newark on Trent, Collingham and Harby. The route in Nottinghamshire is covered on the Cycling in Newark & Sherwood map (see list of free maps below).
Route development
Fosse2
Plans to rebuild some 25km of the A46 Fosse Way in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire will leave some of the old Roman alignment for local traffic and some for walkers, cyclists and horseriders only. Many new bridges will be built where crossing is currently risky. Following representation by Sustrans, signalled crossings of the A52 and A6097 at Bingham have been added to the plans which, when built, will overcome the last big barrier to riding Fosse2 between Lincoln and Exeter.
The National Cycle Network in Nottinghamshire
Nottinghamshire County Council has just published (updated July 08) the final map for cyclists in a series that shows the whole of the county. The National Cycle Network is fully covered and the maps enable cyclists to make links between the Network routes and also to find quiet and attractive routes from their homes and railway stations.
Bingham
Work has been completed to improve Route 15 through Bingham. Using quiet roads and sections of verge paths through the town, the route now joins up with existing facilities that link to Nottingham.
