National Route 54 Staffordshire and Derbyshire

National Route 54 runs southwestwards out of Derby on the Mickleover Trail, which currently ends at Etwall, continuing to Burton-on-Trent by road. Sustrans has long planned to extend the traffic-free trail to Burton, and is currently seeking a licence from Network Rail to make a path beside the live railway near Egginton. Assuming the licence is granted, we can start to seek funds and planning permission for the remainder of the work, including new bridges across the Dove, Hilton Brook and Mill Fleam.
