Parkland Walk connects Highgate to Finsbury Park along the course of the old railway which once connected to Alexandra Palace. It is a local nature reserve which has recently been restored.
Finsbury Park was opened in 1869 and many historical features remain, including the American Gardens and Alexander McKenzie's flower gardens. The park also has a dog free children's play area and a cafe.
The route is a good walk in either direction, but is is best cycled from west to east due to the gradient. Spring Hill at the eastern end of the route is quite steep.
Secure cycle parking is available in Finsbury Park.
