Sustrans is working hard throughout the capital to help many more people walk or cycle for more of their journeys. See the London news page for an update on the latest activity.

Safe and appealing routes are being developed across London through Sustrans' GOAL programme, which stands for Greenways for the Olympics and London.

As an example of partnership working with boroughs on Greenways, see our work in Enfield where we are taking forward a number of routes including National Cycle Network 12.

Our Bike It team is working actively with schools to give children all the help they need to get an active, healthy start to their day. Read all about Bike It action from 2009-2010 in the latest project review (pdf).

In Tower Hamlets we've  completed our Oceans Estate Get Out Get Active, a new type of Active Travel Project which has helped a whole community walk and cycle more and become more healthy as a result.

Our Active Travel initiative is underway and we're looking to recruit 'Champions' who will help encourage people to walk and cycle more in the lead up to the Olympics.

Sustrans' DIY streets programme is working with several communities in London, helping local people to redesign the streets where they live as vibrant, liveable spaces.

The London Strategic Plan describes how we will extend the reach of our projects, and develop new ones, to help more and more Londoners travel in ways that benefit their health and the environment.
