Get involved
At Sustrans we're fortunate to have around 3,000 people volunteering with us, supporting our work. Many of our volunteers help on our routes whilst others help to promote and encourage walking and cycling. Take a look at the different ways in which people help by taking a look at volunteering with Sustrans. To find out how you can become a Sustrans volunteer visit our volunteer vacancies and see if there is anything that appeals to you in your area. You can also read about the incredible efforts our volunteers donate in the volunteer newsletter.
If being a regular volunteer isn't your thing, what else could you do to help Sustrans?
- How about doing some fundraising? It can be incredibly gratifying - not to mention vital for our work - to be among the people who get fundraising to support Sustrans. There are people up and down the country who have great fun raising money for us in a variety of ways, from hosting coffee mornings and bring and buy sales, to leading cake bakes or sponsored bike rides. Some people look after Sustrans collecting boxes in their local shop or café. Whether you can manage one box or a dozen, it's a valuable way to help. And it doesn't matter how much you raise, every penny is appreciated.
- Get in touch with your local volunteer group. Many Sustrans volunteer groups are looking for more people to join them on an ad hoc basis to give extra hands when needed - on workdays, at events, supplying local businesses with promotional information and lots more! For more information about the types of activites that may be going on in your area visit our volunteering with Sustrans webpage.
So, with these ideas in mind, coming up with a way to get involved should be a breeze.
