"Make Your Move Kirkcaldy" is a project which aims to increase the number of journeys made by cycling, public transport and walking within the town.
This aim follows the target set by Scottish Government that 10% of all journeys in Scotland should be made by bike by 2020.
The project is a partnership between Fife Council Transportation and Environmental Services and Sustrans, with funding from the Scottish Government and from HealthGift through the Health Lottery.
How it works
Sustrans is working with Fife Council to improve the walking and cycling routes in Kirkcaldy.
We are running an advertising campaign to make local people more aware of the benefits of choosing public transport, walking and cycling, and to help promote the information on the Make Your Move Kirkcaldy website. We are also running lots of exciting events in the town.
Make Your Move Kirkcaldy also supports the objectives of Fife Council's Local Transport Strategy to give priority to walking and cycling for short trips and as a feeder to public transport, and supports the majority of the Big 8 priorities in the Council Plan which include: becoming the leading green council in Scotland, improving local conditions for economic development and improving sport, leisure and cultural opportunities.
