<p>You will have the ability to supervise and provide leadership, have great communication skills and experience of general construction or path building and maintenance.&nbsp; Also necessary is knowledge of required site skills such as chainsaws, excavators, dumpers etc.&nbsp; You will be self-motivated and have the ability to motivate others.&nbsp; You will also have basic IT skills and a clean driving licence.</p>

<p>Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent and committed to cycling and the ideals of Sustrans, you will have excellent communication and presentation skills, experience of working with children and young people, be IT literate and have the ability to motivate others.&nbsp; CRB Disclosure clearance is mandatory for this post and the ability to speak Welsh is highly desirable.</p>

<p>Ideally with a post graduate qualification in Ecology and a member of a relevant professional body, you will have experience of ecology of rural green spaces and have demonstrable skills in field surveying, mitigation and report writing.&nbsp; You will be well organised, have good communication and presentation skills and be IT literate.&nbsp; You will also be committed to the aims of Sustrans.</p>

<h4>Holiday Entitlement</h4>
<p>Our standard holiday allowance is 25 days annual leave per calendar year for full time staff, plus bank and public holidays - pro rata for part time staff.</p>
<h4>Contributory pension scheme</h4>
<p>Sustrans subscribes to a Personal Pension Plan under Stakeholder rules and employees can join after three full month's service.&nbsp; A 3% of basic salary contribution by Sustrans must be matched by the employee</p>
<h4>Childcare support</h4>
<p>We offer a Childcare support scheme called Kiddivouchers. The basics of this support is that&nbsp;employees are able to pay for child care from their gross pay (ie before tax and national insurance is deducted) provided the child care provider is happy to invoice and be paid directly by Sustrans.&nbsp;&nbsp;The current maximum statutory monthly contribution which&nbsp;can be made towards child care in this way is &pound;243.&nbsp;</p>
<h4>Cycle to work scheme </h4>
<p>Sustrans staff can purchase bikes under the government's Cycle to Work initiative administered by Cyclescheme. This offers a 30-50 per cent saving and can be paid over a 12 month period.</p>
<h4>Cycle accessories discount</h4>
<p>Cycle accessories can be ordered at a discounted rate. <p>To apply for a job please download an application form from the&nbsp;related documents&nbsp;section of each vacancy. In this section you will also find a job description containing the personal specification giving criteria required for the position and an equal opportunities monitoring form which will need to be submitted with your application.</p>
<p>Applications should be returned to us by 5.30pm on the closing date as specified on the vacancy advert. Applications received after that date will not normally be considered for shortlisting.</p>

<h4>What happens after I submit my application?</h4>
<p>On receipt of your electronic application, automatic acknowledgement will be emailed.&nbsp; Unfortunately we are unable to acknowledge receipt of applications sent through the post.<strong></strong></p>
<h4>How will I know if my application has been successful?</h4>
<p>We will contact candidates who have been shortlisted for interview by letter within three weeks of the closing date.&nbsp; The letter will contain details of when and where the interview will take place and if there is anything we would like you to bring or prepare prior to the interview. We will give candidates at least one weeks notice of interview.</p>
<p>As a charity, we unfortunately do not have the resources to respond to all applicants. Therefore if you do not hear from us within three weeks of the closing date, you should presume that your application has not been successful on this occasion.</p>

Can I submit the same application for more than one position?</h4>
<p>Yes, you are welcome to submit the same application for multiple positions.&nbsp; Please clearly state on the top of your application form which vacancies you are applying for or attach a cover letter stating your instructions.&nbsp; Please make sure that you show how your skills and experience meet the specific criteria for each of the roles that you are applying for. <strong></strong></p>
<h4>What hours will I be expected to work?</h4>
<p>For full time staff, the normal working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The core hours are between 9.30am - 4.30pm. The remaining 1.5 hours of the 7.5 hour working day are to be worked either side of this core time.</p>
<p>Start and finish times can be agreed between yourself and your manager. Flexibility of working hours may be required to meet the needs of certain roles. Some posts are offered on a part-time basis and there is also potential for job sharing.</p>
<h4>What is the dress code?</h4>
<p>Smart casual</p>
<h4>I like to work hard but what are my holidays?<br /></h4>
<p>25 days per calendar year for full time staff, plus bank and public holidays (pro rata for part time staff). You may need to reserve a couple of days for the christmas shutdown period.</p>

<h4>The Application Form</h4>
<p>Please ensure that you complete all sections of the application form, remembering to clearly state which vacancy you are applying for as well as where you originally saw the advert.&nbsp; </p>
<p>In order to be shortlisted for interview, we expect candidates to provide us with information about their skills, knowledge and experience relevant to the vacancy being applied for.&nbsp; While the job advert will give you an idea about the post, the job description will provide a more detailed picture.&nbsp; Following the employment history section of the application form, there is a chance to demonstrate, through examples, how your skills, knowledge and experience meet the essential criteria as outlined in the person specification.&nbsp; You may draw on experience through both paid and unpaid work.&nbsp; There is no word limit in this section and if you are printing the form you may add additional pages as necessary.&nbsp; </p>

<h4>Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Checks </h4>
<p>Some of our roles and projects, for example Bike It and Active Travel, involve working with young people or vulnerable adults and it is therefore Sustrans' policy that any person offered employment who is likely to be in contact with young people or vulnerable adults in their day to day work, will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure check through the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB).&nbsp; The offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory return from the CRB. </p>
<h4>References</h4>
<p>Applicants will be required to provide us with 2 referees.&nbsp; Employment will be subject to these references being satisfactory.</p>
<h4>Confidentiality</h4>
<p>Sustrans will ensure that your application form will only be seen by those involved in the recruitment and selection process.&nbsp; Where third party funders are involved in shortlisting for interview it may be necessary to send a copy of your application to them - this is either done electronically or by recorded mail sent for addressee only.&nbsp; Partners are instructed to keep the information confidential and delete/destroy the application forms when short listing/interviews are complete.</p>
<p>Equal opportunity monitoring forms are separated from the application form as soon as it arrives with HR.&nbsp; Information from the form will be securely stored electronically and the form will be destroyed.</p>
<h4>Data Protection</h4>
<p>Information from your application may be processed for purposes registered by the employer under the Data Protection Act 1998.&nbsp; </p>
<p>By completing and returning the form, you give your consent to Sustrans to process the data supplied on this form for the purpose of recruitment and selection.&nbsp; Information will not be passed to anyone not involved in this process.</p>

<p>Once you have downloaded the application form you can complete it in your own time, saving your work as you go, in case you should wish to work on the application form in more than one session.&nbsp; Once complete, the application form should be e-mailed back to us as an attachment to <a href="mailto:jobs@sustrans.org.uk">jobs@sustrans.org.uk</a>.&nbsp; If you are unable to e-mail us the completed form, you may return it by post to the address provided on the top of the form, marked for the confidential attention of Laura Bridges.&nbsp; </p>
<p>If you are completing the application form by hand please ensure that when you give details of how your skills and experience meet the requirements of the role that you continue on to a separate sheet. </p>
<p>Applications should reach us no later than 5.30pm by the closing date specified on the vacancy advert. </p>
<p>As a charity, we hope you will understand that we are unable to respond to all applicants, and therefore only those selected for interview will be contacted.&nbsp; If you have not heard from us within three weeks of the closing date, your application has not been successful on this occasion. However, we will keep your application for six months and may contact you again if a more suitable vacancy arises - please let us know by e-mailing us at <a href="mailto:jobs@sustrans.org.uk">jobs@sustrans.org.uk</a> if you do not wish this to happen.</p>
<p>Please note that we do not accept CV's as a form of application, however you are welcome to include your CV as an addition, but do not cross reference one with the other.&nbsp; </p>
