Advice and support
Sustrans has over 30 years experience in the development and construction of routes for people throughout the UK and our staff have been heavily involved in the development of design guidance, most recently the Design Portfolio compiled by the Cycling England professional support service and the Connect2 and Greenway Design Guide.
This section of the website provides advice and support to anyone, including community groups, individuals and practitioners engaged in the design and construction of routes for people to walk and cycle.
Sustrans is able to offer advice and consultancy services on developing routes and places (pdf) ranging from project specific work to general advice and professional training.
This includes:
- Professional training courses
- Monitoring and evaluation of cycling and walking
- Feasibility studies for routes and networks, including routes to stations
- Route audits
- Scheme design
- Urban design / public realm schemes
- Land assembly
- Ecological consultancy and assessments
- Project development, including obtaining planning permission
