Route 221 travels from West Byfleet to Brookwood along the Basingstoke Canal.

This quiet off-road route along the Basingstoke Canal, passes close to Woking Town Centre and West Byfleet, Woking and Brookwood rail stations. At the junction with the River Wey Navigation, there is the option to continue north to Weybridge or south to Guildford alongside the River.

There are a number of parks and recreation grounds along the way, together with refreshment stops and shops in Woking.

The canal side route provides a pleasant opportunity to view the canal and flora and fauna along the way. At the western end is Brookwood Cemetery, also known as the London Necropolis. It is the largest cemetery in the United Kingdom and one of the largest in Europe.
