Cefn Cribwr to Bridgend

Linking the former ironworks at Tondu and Bedford Park, this route passes through the Parc Slip Nature Park which is home to a wealth of wildlife including rare wading birds and many species of butterfly, damselfly and dragonfly.

Once the site of an opencast coal mine, the land has been transformed and now features grassland, woodland, and wetlands, including lakes with bird hides. There is also a visitor centre run by the Wildlife Trust.

The trail is predominately wooded but you can still see the occasional reminder of its industrial past, including the Scheduled Ancient Monuments of Cefn Cribwr Ironworks in Bedford Park and Tondu Ironworks near Tondu.

From Tondu, you can continue along the Ogmore Valley route taking you right up to Nant-y-moel.
