Classroom activities
One of the best ways to establish a healthy school community, with pupils who are confident at walking and cycling in their local area, is to integrate these ideas into the curriculum.
You can download classroom activities and resources (pdfs) below. Whilst we've suggested an appropriate age range for each activity, they should of course be adapted to suit the age and needs of your pupils. We have suggested how each activity might be linked to the different curricula in the UK.
Sustrans has also developed interactive whiteboard resources to complement the Travelling Green teacher resource pack which is available to all Scottish schools. However the resources are suitable for teachers from the rest of the UK too.
Download the flipcharts about road safety, healthy eating and the respiratory system for free from the Promethean Planet website. They are compatible with any kind of interactive whiteboard but you will need to download the Promethean ActivInspire software.
