Transporting a growing family
You will probably have just mastered cycling with one toddler, when you find you are expecting baby number two! But don't worry, you can carry on cycling during pregnancy if you feel up to it and, once your second baby has arrived and is able to support their head, you can all enjoy cycling together.
Cycling during pregnancy
As long as you feel safe, confident and comfortable, you can continue cycling in pregnancy. As with any form of exercise when you're pregnant, it's best to check with your GP if you have any concerns. The golden rule is to only do what you feel personally comfortable with.
Some women cycle right up to their eighth month of pregnancy, but others stop after just a few months and, this time around, you'll also have your first-born to transport which will add to your load. (Dads - you might well find your toddler changes to your bike as the bump gets bigger!) Don't forget to take extra care if cycling during your third trimester, as a fall could harm you, your unborn baby and toddler.

Cycling with two kids
If you feel confident, then why not try cycling with two toddlers in bike seats - a front mounted one for your youngest, and a rear mounted one for your eldest. Remember to check your brakes regularly as you'll be carrying extra weight. Once your eldest is around four years old, they can graduate to a tag-along.
Double trailers are ideal for carrying two kids alongside each other. You can safely use a trailer for two once your youngest can support their head - usually after their first birthday. Just remember to cycle gently and slow your speed as babies can be senstive to jolts and bumps.
Once your eldest has mastered pedalling and road safety you can start cycling with them to school, taking your toddler in a bike seat.
