East to North West Coastal Route

The East to North West Coastal Route runs from Derry to Bangor, County Down via Coleraine, Ballycastle, Larne, Mossley near Newtownabbey, and Belfast.

The route follows Route 99 of the National Cycle Network from Belfast out towards Comber, before going on-road to Newtownards.

There are a number of short traffic-free sections along the route.

The major ones of these are alongside the Foyle in Derry; from Mossley to Belfast, and along the coast into Bangor.

The section shared with Route 99 is also mainly traffic-free, utilising the Comber Greenway. However, the majority of the route is on-road. The section between Larne and Newtownabbey is currently not open.
