National Route 26 of the National Cycle Network will run from Portishead on the Somerset coast to Portland Bill on the Dorset coast via Wells, Castle Cary, Yeovil and Dorchester.
Open sections: The route is open and signed between Battery Point (Portishead) and the Avonmouth Bridge (near Pill) joining National Route 41 into Bristol or the Severn Bridge and Gloucester.
Clevedon to Cheddar is open mainly on the traffic-free Strawberry Line.
Between Wells and Glastonbury the route is open and currently follows National Route 3.
The route is then open and signed between Castle Cary and Dorchester, mainly on quiet roads, but with some traffic-free sections heading into Dorchester.
